Science Behind Social Garblygook?

Here goes my first post so be nice to me.

Question: When is the best time to twitter/facebook/etc. a link to your blog/site/etc.?
Reason for Question: If you have a blog you've probably noticed that some posts are somehow more popular than others. Sometimes this has something to do what you are posting (such as "New Post @ boringstuff.com" vs. "pics of alien invasion @ awesomesite.com") but what if it's more than just what you're posting and how you're posting it. Do you think timing is a factor?

More reason for question: I'm not a person that can be glued to the incessant stream of (mostly) useless information that is coming in through twitbook; and I'd suppose I'm not the only one. With so many farmville and mafia updates from my follower's friends, what's the best way for them to see what I want them to see? And as much as it sounds like a rant, it's a serious question because I can only think of two things to do.

1. I can become the loudest person possible and re-announce myself until everyone on twitbook blocks me.
2. I can work on building an algorithm that takes into account planetary alignment in order to calculate that Tuesday mornings at 7am is the best time to break through the social garblygook.

What do you guys think?

I definitely think timing is a factor. And I DEFINITELY think you should build an algorithm if you know how to do that - then sell it! You'll make a FORTUNE! :)
