Last week I flew up to attend the New York Comic Con 2010. What is the New York Comic Con you ask? Here's the official description of NYCC:

New York Comic Con is the East Coast's biggest and most exciting popular culture convention. Our show floor plays host to the latest and greatest in comics, graphic novels, anime, manga, video games, toys, movies, and television. Our panels and autograph sessions give fans a chance to interact with their favorite creators. Our screening rooms feature sneak peeks at films and television shows months before they hit either big or small screens. And with dedicated professional hours, New York Comic Con is a market place, bringing together the major players in the entertainment industry. New York Comic Con is the second largest pop culture convention in America and the only one that takes place in the comic book, publishing, media, and licensing capital of the world -- Gotham City.

This was my third trip to the convention. Every year it has steadily grown in attendance. Last year there were 77,000 attendees and this years estimated count will be greater than 95,000 That is a LOT of nerds packed into one room. My word to best describe walking the floor is Jostled. That being said the trip was a lot of fun.

The best part of the trip for me is getting to hang out with my friends I only get to see once a year; my lbobi Radio partner Brian LeTendre, Matt Herring of Secret Identity podcast and lbobi Hero Nick Merritt and my college buddy DC superstar Mike Norton. This years Special bonus guest was my xbox buddy The Mayor of ComicCon, Dan Evans who made the journey all the way from LA.

This year I flew up early so I could visit my friends at ANIMOTO and tour their New York studio. Special thanks to the gracious Becky Brooks for being our tour guide and thank you for making me feel cool by asking me to sign the print of our ANIMOTO ad we did in May.

I was also fortunate to finally meet in person the nicest guy on twitter Joel Meisels, the social media director for Adorama. Thanks Joel!
