The #1 viral video: Levi's Rear View Girls

The number one video this week as tracked by AdAge, Rear View Girls. This video was created for Levi's as an online commercial. It was supposed to be seen as a homemade video but it was really conceived by
the advertising agency Colenso BBDO.

The original post on youtube received over 3.4 million views but was removed because Levi's failed to get model releases from the people shown in the video. This is a good example of Pandoras Box. Once it's out there (on the interwebs) it is uncontrollable. The video is popping up on several youtube channels now. As evidenced by the fact it's posted right here. I wonder if they knew this would happen and did not get model releases on purpose. The video obviously has been very successful without the advertisers following the rules. It doesn't seem very responsible to me. I wonder how many lawsuits they will get.

The lesson we can take from this? Think before you post something.
