Evernote + Livescribe Pens.
I am a big fan of Evernote ( www.evernote.com). The site describes it as 'Evernote makes it easy to remember things big and small from your notable life.' Evernote covers almost every platform from desktop, web, phones, ipads etc. Organization is key to Evernote and the search function is excellent. 'Everything you capture is automatically processed, indexed, and made searchable. If you like, you can add tags or organize notes into different notebooks' You can find out more here http://www.evernote.com/about/learn_more/I use it to capture screen shots & pdfs of online transactions & payments etc and interesting finds, articles, images and inspiration etc. I also use it for some notetaking and list making and special projects. My husband uses it on his ipad to sync client meeting notes back to his work computers. Another friend uses it for project planning and working meetings. It is a very flexible and useful program that can help you manage your digital life.
Whilst this is great for managing my digital life. I also love pen and paper. I really like writing things down... making lists.. taking notes. I find I don't do this on my ipad etc.. i just grab pen and paper. It would be really great if they magically appeared in Evernote too. I could take a photo of them and add that.. but I don't.
This morning Evernote sent me a link to a pen from Livescribe (www.livescribe.com). You can now have the best of both worlds.. all those paper notes can now be uploaded to Evernote. There are two versions, with the Pulse at $99 and the echo at $149. The site describes the benefits as ' Livescribe's Echo and Pulse Smartpens remember everything you hear, write and draw. Later, simply tap on your notes to replay your recording and get what you need. These compact smartpens are as easy to carry as traditional pen-and-paper, but smarter, with up to 8GB of memory that holds hundreds of hours of audio and tens of thousands of pages of notes. The latest version of the Livescribe Desktop software allows you to save your pages and recordings directly into your Evernote account, where your handwritten text will be made searchable'
