iPhone iPad App Review: Adobe Ideas

I downloaded the Adobe Ideas app months ago and forgot about it until last week. I saw a post on a design site about a guy doing a sketch a day. I went back to the app and they have made it much better since I first downloaded it. Now the app supports up to ten layers. It is not the same as the more robust SketchBook app which is more of a professional level app. Adobe Ideas does a great job never the less. I will be experimenting with SketchBook this week.

I let my darling wife take the iPad out of town this weekend so I was left with just my iPhone 4. Even with the limited screen space I still enjoyed using the app. Here are two drawings I made this weekend using a conductive stylus pen. The pen itself takes some getting used to, since the tip is not small.

The app allows you to control the size of your pen and you are also able to create a color pallet based on the source photo. The files export as PDF so you are able to open it in Illustrator as a vector file or Photoshop. So theoretically the tiny iPhone drawing could be printed on the side of a building. I am not about to replace any professional comic book artist (looking at you Mike Norton) anytime soon, but I am proud of the way these turned out.
