Um, can I get a quote?
So my little seed of a photo biz is blossoming slowly but beautifully. But one thing I still haven't been able to do is come up with a good pricing system. I mean, what's a girl to do?I get inquiries all the time asking for a quote. And although I have a set price list, (which despite doing as much research as I could, I still feel like these prices came right out of my butt), I have found that I have a hard time sticking to it. Here's the rub: my geographic location is littered with photogs! And not just the mass producing, low balling businesses, but a lot of high end boutique types as well. And while my work is worth more than what I'm charging, I can't charge that much.
I feel some of my problem comes from the lack of intel there is on the pricing of my area. No one of worth advertises prices. I've even gone undercover to try to see what the competition has up there sleeve, but to no avail. The most I've come up with is high end pricing that won't get me two winks or advice recommending some pricey, um, well, pricing system.
So question to you, fellow photography entrepreneurs: how do I set my pricing system?
