Seth Godins KickStarter: The Icarus Deception
My favorite author Seth Godins next step in changing the book publishing industry, he launched a kickstarter to fund his new book coming out in January. He needed $40k to get the kickstarter fully funded by July 17th, and as of this writing he has reached $219,773. To me this really demonstrates the power of his Tribe.
Watch the above video for a greater explanation of what he is trying to accomplish.
I am a couple days late to the party and the reward level I would have liked to have purchased have all been taken.
What is exactly is KickStarter?
Jeff "The Fully Funded" RodgersKickstarter is a funding platform for creative projects.
At this very second, thousands of people are checking out projects on Kickstarter. They're rallying around their friends' ideas, backing projects from people they've long admired, and discovering things that make them laugh and smile.Every project is independently crafted, put to all-or-nothing funding, and supported by friends, fans, and the public in return for rewards.

We should talk about Kickstarter on the podcast. I think in some ways its seen as the cure-all for funding a project, but a lot of people don't use Kickstarter as effectively as they could. Seems like Godin has an interesting idea about showing evidence of support so the publisher will kick in with the rest of the funding. That's very different than someone trying to completely fund a self-published project.
